I have been taking Daflon 1000 mg for a week now, and honestly it has helped me a lot. My hemorrhoids never prolapsed nor did it bleed, but I definitely had pain to the point where I couldn't walk or stand for more than a minute. Along with the Daflon I increased my water and fiber (soluble) and (insoluble) intake by a drastic amount. I also stopped eating meat. Mineral oil also helps a lot when it comes to passing stool, take at least 3 tablespoons every day.

Apply an over-the-counter hemorrhoid cream or suppository containing hydrocortisone, or use pads containing witch hazel or a numbing agent. Soak regularly in a warm bath or sitz bath. Soak your anal area in plain warm water for 10 to 15 minutes two to three times a day. A sitz bath fits over the toilet.

I suffer with hemorrhoids. This is what helps me. Take a half or full dosage of stool softener a day. Take a half dosage of milk of magnesia a day. Before bowel movement take a Q-tip and put Vaseline, Neosporin and/or lidocaine spray on the hemorrhoid and wash with warm sitz bath while you pass the bowel movement. Then follow with a warm shower, preferably a bath with Epsom salt, and/or aloe in the bath. This helps with anal fissures as well. There are 2 procedures to correct it. Painful surgery.

Position your fingers at the area of skin between your anus and buttock bone. Push your fingers into the skin and direct your fingers towards the root of the hemorrhoid. Push your fingers until they are close to your buttock bone. Move your fingers in a circular motion to massage the external wall of the anal canal where the hemorrhoid root is located. Massage 50-100 times. Repeat daily until the hemorrhoid disappears. Improvement within one week, and up to three months to cure.

I've been suffering from hemorrhoids for years, both with pain and leakage. After I empty my bowels, it was a fresh new agony. I decided to get an inversion table. After my bowel movement, I hop on and the hemorrhoids are gone after 5 minutes. However, recently I've been experiencing internal hemorrhoids; feels like a solid piece of steak. This is the one I'm having trouble with now.

I was an active cyclist and developed hemorrhoids. Pain reached a point 8 years ago where I stopped most activities. I saw a dozen doctors, and nothing worked. I needed them removed but no one would do the surgery, one doctor was going to start using a new surgical technique called THD (transanal haemorrhoidal dearterialisation). A doppler probe is inserted to find the hemorrhoids and tie them off. It was a miracle! Outpatient, minimally invasive, 'twilight sleep' anesthesia, 1 or 2 days of discomfort. They are 100 percent gone. Get it done!

I suffered from relapsed hemorrhoids for the last 10 years. I'm a pharmacist and I know all the creams and tips. The last months I was desperate as nothing really helped anymore. But I found a cheap and thorough solution. It's very simple. I have had a water tap installed next to my toilet: a flexible tube and a faucet. You see these things often in Asia. And it worked for me! After months of misery, gone are those piles. I believe it has a double function: no rubbing, aqua massage and clean.

I'd been suffering with internal hemorrhoids for the last 8 weeks or so. They itched mildly, nothing horrible, but then they thrombosed. The pain was excruciating. Tucks pads and Preparation H did little. I was lucky to find a formula that includes potassium iodide, aloe juice, and DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide. I used it internally and externally, once before bed, and the thrombosed hemorrhoids cleared up after 6 days of treatment. The mix helps with pain and itch almost immediately. Information is easily available online.

Since the age of 15 I have struggled with hemorrhoids. I'm almost 24 now and in the past few years my condition has become severe and chronic. After countless medical procedures and surgeries having failed, I made my own support community. Basically after having 1 hemorrhoidectomy, 6 rubber band ligations, Botox in the rectum and many more herbal treatments I found the most effective thing for me was pelvic floor physiotherapy.

I am 41 years old and have had hemorrhoids for many years. The only thing that has ever worked for me is a potato suppository. I have only seen one comment referring to a potato. I make a piece of potato look like a normal suppository. It takes the pain away almost immediately, and shrinks the hemorrhoids. I don't know why this would sound so strange to people that they would not try it. If you have hemorrhoids you know you'll try anything.

There are electronic massage machines known as TENS machine available for reasonable prices. Now whenever I get a hemorrhoid I simply stick the pad on the hemorrhoid and gently raise the power of the massage. I let it massage thoroughly (1 hour) both morning and evening. It slowly brings down the inflammation, and within 48 hours the hemorrhoid becomes half the size and within a week it is almost healed. Continue with whatever medication you use, and the massage gives immense relief and saves time.

Diet is a huge factor in the development of hemorrhoids. I advocate a plant based diet (I have been vegan for some time now and my hemorrhoids have really settled down. A plant based diet is rich in both soluble and non-soluble fiber which is excellent for processing foods, so you don't get clogged up with constipation (which is one of the main causes of hemorrhoids).

I tried everything, from creams to surgery for hemorrhoids and nothing helped. My problem was severe pain and bleeding daily for many years. But last year I heard about Venixxa and I can confirm, it is a miracle cure! In the past couple of months almost no bleeding or problems. I am taking one tablet a day now and will continue until hemorrhoids are completely gone.

I'm a male in my 40s, started having issues at 38. After seeing the doctor and trying to eat more fiber I had rubber banding on all the internal hemorrhoids. They all came back quickly, very frustrating. Later I was diagnosed with celiac. I cut out gluten (wheat, barley, malt). I have had almost no issues for years. After a bowel movement if I felt a hemorrhoid protruding, I found kneeling with head down position often makes it go away, tip from physician's assistant friend.

I've had numerous colonoscopies. They all turned out to be normal except for the fact I have GERD. I've experienced rectal bleeding for many years, at least 10 plus years. Each time I'm told I had internal hemorrhoids. I have asked my gastrointestinal doctors each time to take pictures to show me and they have never taken any. I'm starting to think they are only telling me I have hemorrhoids because they aren't taking my concerns serious. I'm really getting fed up.

I've suffered from piles and the best remedy I can think of for piles is exercise daily for 1 hour. You can go for jogging. Second thing is drinking warm water with lemon and turmeric. I had piles for 2 months and then I came across this idea and my piles were gone in 2 weeks' period. Plus eating green peas and other vegetables along with this can make the hemorrhoids heal quicker too. Please don't take any medicines or anything since they just stretch the healing process longer.

I am 55 and have had hemorrhoids since I had my son in 1989. Only now I have thrombosed hemorrhoids and I have started bleeding. I use Emuaid, Preparation H hydrocortisone 1 percent. The doctor prescribed Anusol 2.5 percent cream, lidocaine, and sitz bath with Epsom salt, but nothing is giving long term relief, only temporary. It's been very difficult to sit, to sleep, and to live a normal life. I meet with a surgeon Tuesday May 21st. We'll see what she says. Itching is the most annoying part of this whole thing!

I have 3 internal hemorrhoids which never caused pain or bleeding. Two months ago I suddenly experienced severe anal itchiness. When I couldn't figure out the cause and it wouldn't go away, I decided to treat it as caused by hemorrhoid. I am Chinese and I had on hand some Mayinglong Musk ointment. When it ran out, I found it on Amazon USD 10 for 30 g. I also do Chinese acupressure on my body every day. I am back to normal now (20 g ointment in 7 to 10 days). I still do acupressure every day.

With every bowel movement, the water was pink or even red. I tried all the creams and pills, nothing worked. I finally called a specialist and he told me I had three grade 2 internal hemorrhoids, and he recommended rubber band ligation. I went there three times, once per month. The banding is quite unpleasant and painful, but the pain only lasts about 6 hours. Anyway, my last session was a month ago, and now I see no blood, even when I push hard. I am cured!

A patient of mine was using a vitamin powder called Vitality Force. She noticed by chance her 20 year problem with hemorrhoids disappeared. So I tried it and after 8 weeks it seems to be working. I have had my usual hard stools from time to time but no more bleeding, itching or breakouts. It has L-arginine and a lot of B vitamins in it along with D3 and a list of other vitamins. You might not want to take it if you take other vitamins or any drugs that vitamins can interfere with.

I have had hemorrhoids for over 15 years and lived with the embarrassment that comes with it. In 2015 I summoned the courage to meet a general surgeon who has been helpful in maintaining this through Botox injections. I get this injection every 3 months in my anal area to soften and relax the muscles around the anus thus having the opportunity to easily push up my big hemorrhoids while I have a bowel movement. Found this great except that you can't control your wind. Positive is no pains or sleepless night.

Diet has a lot to do with this problem of hemorrhoids. My advice is avoid the following food; tomatoes are really bad for piles, especially cherry tomatoes. Eggplants and zucchinis, etc., are just as bad and dry fish or dehydrated fish in oil all aggravate your piles – they are equally bad as the cherry tomatoes. Also avoid chilies especially the seeds. Hot water soak is very good with salt or astringent. Apple cider vinegar has helped me.

I've had problems with hemorrhoids my whole adult life but it got really bad a few years ago. I've tried everything I could, everything! And nothing helped in the long run. I was so desperate I tried just one last thing I've seen online, before going to the doctor and stretching the sphincter. Yes, I was that desperate! But it has helped me so much that I've decided I have to tell people about it. It's been about 6 months now that I have no problems at all, no pain, no bleeding, I can sit all day long and the hemorrhoids have almost gone completely! It's amazing! I stretch it every day for a few minutes in the bathtub, before my shower, with a rubber glove on and some lubricant. I know most people won't try it but I hope to help those who are as desperate as I once was. Good luck to everyone and I hope you find what works for you!

I have had an ongoing problem with an internal hemorrhoids for about 4 years. I could push it in and go about my business but it decided not to stay put any longer. I noticed I seemed to be blocked up (hitting a wall) while passing stools. I got the Preparation H suppositories and only used 3 (one for three days), and the problem got worse. I began to blow up on one side of my anus. I put Preparation H cream on it and hit the ceiling (washed it off). Then I put Vaseline on it and hit the ceiling (washed it off). I tried salt sitz, tried vinegar sitz, tried aloe vera plant, tried just warm water bath (the best). I was tired of all this bath taking and went to the doctor. I got it rubber-banded. Embarrassing, yes. But that it is gone and I can go to the bathroom again without the aid of a stool or without pain. So glad that is over now and I will be watching what I eat and drink (I hate drinking water but will now) from now on. Go to the doctor.

Having traveled extensively around the world, I've seen two distinct ways people defecate. In India, Bangladesh, Africa, the Middle East, the Orient and small towns in the French countryside, I've seen toilets that look like ashtrays imbedded in the floor. 0ne must squat with feet on the ridges aiming at the hole below, forcing one into a deep squat or hunker. But with pants below the knees, it creates a risk of a dude's wallet in the back pocket falling into the nastiness. But without an option, one can easily adapt. I never had hemorrhoids until age 63 when I retired in Peru, where we have the conventional indoor throne. The hemorrhoids have persisted for ten years against all medical attempts short of surgery, until recently when I came across a Facebook post telling me to squat instead of sit. So I tried it. The hemorrhoids seem to be going away. For tons more information, Google 'squat vs sit.'

Two months ago I developed external hemorrhoids. I tried Preparation H with and without biodyne, Destin and cortisone cream. Nothing worked, they would shrink a little and then get large again. I had almost decided to go to the doctor when I came across a web page that was talking about iodine. Now the type they mentioned was SSKI (saturated solution of potassium iodide). This is not available over the counter in the US so we got a bottle of good old fashion iodine tincture at Walgreens. It is available at any store. At first I followed the 20 drops to 2 oz of olive oil. It burned just a tad, nothing unbearable. It has been 3 days and a few of the smaller hemorrhoids have actually disappeared. The large one I have is now much smaller, it is not gone but shrinking quickly. Plus they stopped hurting and itching. I have increased the ration of iodine as of today, and it burned a little more but still bearable. I put the solution directly on the hemorrhoids. I hope this will help someone. There is a whole list of things iodine can help and this is just one of them.

I am a female in my 20s who doesn't exercise at all but eats decently. I started to suffer from recurring hemorrhoids randomly a year ago and it was so painful I would wake up from my sleep. It was painful in any position, sitting down, standing up, and lying on bed (side way, face up, face down, etc.) Walking around did seem to help, however. In the beginning, I used Vaseline to seal minor bleeding and tear. For pain, I took Advil or acetaminophen. Then, I purchased witch hazel wipes, which were helpful to reduce swelling. I use both Tucks (smaller sheets but more moist) and Preparation H (larger sheet but kind of dry). I prefer Tucks. I also purchased suppositories but found it painful to insert it. I am now going on a 100 percent cold-pressed juice diet and drinking 3 L of water per day to clean and rest my gastrointestinal tract. Hopefully, hemorrhoid will be gone for good!

I'd like to share with you my personal experience with hemorrhoids and pain caused by them. I suffered a lot since I was I child and a couple of years ago I decided to get in touch with THD (transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization) /HALO (hemorrhoidal artery ligation operation) surgery that solved my problems and gave me the opportunity of a normal life.

Comment from: Violet S., 35-44 Female (Patient) Published: March 31

If I can help people with this excruciating pain then I will definitely share my experience. I've had hemorrhoids all my life but they were never a problem and only mildly flared up. They always went away on their own. About 2 years ago I had a more sever case where I was surprised to see how painful they were and how I wasn't able to sit down. Again, they seemed to go off on their own. I did use suppositories to help calm them down. About 4 weeks ago I had the worst case of flared up hemorrhoids I've ever experienced. I got a mild form but then one day I went to exercise and, goodness, did that exacerbate my situation! I couldn't sit down, I had this excruciating pain, and I was scared to have a bowel movement. I called the doctor and made an appointment for the following Tuesday for surgery. But I started to read online about surgery and the awful after-effects. I proceeded to do all I could naturally. I ate a high fiber diet, vegetables, salads, etc. I have a juice and made most of my vegetable/fruit supplements into smoothies or liquids which is what you want to do. I did not eat any carbohydrates/bread. I drank plenty of water. It says to take Metamucil or Citrucel but these add bulk to stool. I chose to take Fiber Smart which has soluble plus insoluble fiber in it. This is better because I don't want my stools formed. I also used lidocaine, hemorrhoid cream, suppositories, and hydrocortisone. I sat in a hot sitz bath after every bowel movement in the morning and every evening. I also used Tucks and the like because the witch hazel is an astringent for hemorrhoids. I made a concoction of smashed aspirin (4 baby tablets) mixed with lidocaine and put that onto my Tucks and tucked it in there. It seemed to calm it down. Finally, I also switched up my aspirin/Tucks mix with AVC (apple cider vinegar). AVC is great for hemorrhoids although it might sting a bit. You can dilute it with water or apply it straight. Use a cotton ball and place it on the area. I pour the ACV onto my Tucks pad and place it in there. Remember to try and follow a liquid diet as much as possible because those bowel movements put me into tears! I hope this regimen works for others as well. I am feeling so much better now.

I have been suffering with hemorrhoids for 12 years. I had them while delivering my baby. On and off I would have episodes where I would have to be in terrible pain for days, sometimes weeks. I tried everything on the web. Recently I found a natural cure. Eating 5 munakkas followed by a glass of water at night. And cleaning the area for about a minute with water after bowel movement. That's it. I am pain free. I wanted to share since I've been through the pain. Munakkas are big raisins with seeds inside.

I don't see anyone mentioning cortisone cream; as this is what the doctors prescribe. The prescription grade is 2%, but you can get 1% from the store for $4, hydrocortisone 10 + intensive healing formula. I use it once a day before work or sleep. It removes the itch, the pain… everything. It makes it perfectly painless to pass stools. I have been applying it directly to hemorrhoids for years and it allows me to perform manual labor in the hot sun. I also have a strict diet of high fiber, eggs, bread and water. I have also learned that ejaculation exacerbates the situation immensely. It is a major sacrifice, but abstinence, at least for me, helps 100%.

I'm 27 years old and am a fairly healthy guy. I've had hemorrhoids on and off for about seven years. I got my first thrombosed hemorrhoid this year. I got IRC (infrared coagulation) twice, and I still have problems. Doctors just say eat high fiber and drink lots of water, but it doesn't seem to help. I fast (go long periods without eating at all) as a result. Now, I fast fairly regularly and have lost 35 pounds in the last three months. Now I have "thrombosed hemorrhoid No. 2," and I'm just exhausted, both physically and mentally at the intense pain I feel every day. The few things that work for me are: --Over-the-counter Preparation H suppositories (usually too painful to insert though) --Lidocaine (seems to numb a little bit) --Not eating (gives the whole mess down there time to figure out what it wants to do and heal) I learned the hard way that sleeping pills and oxycontin are no good. Taking narcotics for pain is a terrible idea, and please don't do it. It will 100% cause constipation, which in turn will cause more pain, which sucks. So, in short, don't be afraid to fast, and don't take narcotics for the pain. It will hurt you so much more, and you will hate yourself for sabotaging yourself in the healing process.

The real effective treatment is a hemorrhoid cream with the right formula. I tried a least half a dozen creams without any avail. So I tested and tested my own homemade herbal creams, made from essential oils and herbal extracts. They work just a little, until a month back a formula unexpectedly succeeded. From grade 4 my hemorrhoid has improved to grade 2 or even 1. I still can't believe it. So the takeaway here is, get the right topical cream formula.

I have had hemorrhoids for the last six years. It started with some itching and pain in my anus which I did not bother about and neglected. Then one day I saw some drops of blood in my stool and I felt that something is wrong. I visited my family doctor and he examined me. He told me that I had piles. He gave me some medicines and I used them for one week. My bleeding stopped and I was kind of happy that I was getting cured. But my happiness went after a few days when I again saw blood in my stool. I again consulted my doctor and he told me that I should go for surgery. It was scary and I was not prepared for that. I started with some home remedies for piles like witch hazel, etc., and they gave me some kind of relief but not completely. Then one day I found this piles medicine Pfree and in one week I was feeling much better. There was no bleeding, no itching and no pain. I feel that my swelling is also decreasing. For the last two months I have been using this and I can say that I am about 70 percent cured now.

I am a 47 year old female who had 4 kids in 6 years during ages 24 to 30. I started with hemorrhoids about 2 or 3 years ago. I have been to a doctor and they are no help. He told me they are not bad enough to do any kind of surgical procedure; except for the fact they interfere with every aspect of my life! I have to revolve my life around bowel movements and being able to take a sitz bath right after. That affects work, exercise, traveling and especially sex! I am at the end of my rope. The most frustrating aspect of this situation is there is no reason for me to have hemorrhoids besides them being inherited. I eat extremely healthy, have plenty of fiber in my diet, have had bowel movements like clockwork my whole life and never have to strain. I work out daily and am at an ideal weight for my age, height, etc. Over the counter medicines do not help at all. I have used a prescription cream for protection but that's it. Tucks might provide a few minutes of relief as well as hot baths. I'm ready to try anything!

I am a 35-year-old female and have had hemorrhoids since my third child. I have fourth-degree hemorrhoids. I have used Prep H, diaper cream, petroleum jelly, fiber diet, fasting, drinking water, narcotics, ibuprophen, Tylenol, hot baths, Witch Hazel or Tucks, you name it. I have had a hemorrhoidectomy and the lining of my rectum "tacked up," and I still have them. Nothing takes them away. There is nothing that makes them bearable. I lose up to a week of productivity every time I get them, which is about four times a year. There are some things that provide temporary relief (as in 15 minutes or less). The hot baths work every time. If you can find a way to stay in the hot (and I mean so hot you cannot put your toes in the water) baths the whole week, you're set! Narcotics, if accompanied with a strong dose of ibuprophen, seem to help get you functioning, but it can cause constipation, so only eat enough so that your stomach doesn't eat itself. Also, you must use some kind of lubricant or you will want to take your own life! Surgery is very painful afterward but worth it if it promises even the most remote chance of success.

Go buy Desitin or the store brand containing 40% zinc oxide! Last night, I used some, and although the hemorrhoids are not gone, they are reduced significantly. I slept through the night for the first time in a long time. I also had the first normal bowel movement in a long time this morning. Woo hoo -- no bleedint! I was just about at the end of my rope. My doctor said surgery was necessary, but I am in a huge initiative at work and cannot take time off now. Surgery may still be necessary, but at the very least I feel the zinc oxide will get me through the summer. Yes, it is a bit of a mess, but no more than the other creams. I put the cream on a cotton swab and inserted it that way. It is a little cumbersome but well worth the effort.

I put the cream on a cotton swab and inserted it that way. It is a little cumbersome but well worth the effort.

I have had hemorrhoids for many years, especially after having kids. I have found a few things that have helped me and want to share. I am also going to try the zinc oxide someone recommended. I went to a doctor for a very bad internal hemorrhoid I had. I got it from having a very hard bowel movement. I was trying really hard to push the stool out, and all of a sudden it came out and tore me inside. I never had such pain. I tried so hard to get it to go away, tried everything. It was a nightmare just knowing I was going to have to have a bowel movement in the morning. So, like I said, I went to a doctor, and he accused me of having anal sex, threw a prescription at me and said if it doesn't go away will do surgery. I was so humiliated; I cried all the way home. So then went to an alternative doctor and he told me to take a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil before I eat. Drink lots of water, and also take flax seed oil tablets. I had those internal hemorrhoids for a year before going to the alternative doctor. It took a week, after I seen him that it started getting better. The oil helps the stool slide out easier. One other thing I do is use a hot rag. I keep getting it hotter and hotter on the hemorrhoid, and then I use tucks cream. That really helps. I don't know how much the tucks helps, but the hot compress really does. I am going to try the Desitin though. Does anyone know what else zinc oxide comes in?

I have about two decades of experience with extreme bleeding because of prolapsed hemorrhoids. The anemia has been so bad, I once had a doctor laugh because my hematocrit (red blood cell) level was so low that he thought it was a ridiculous mistake. Over the past year, I have become fairly successful at fighting both the anemia and the hemorrhoids. To soften my stools, I eat two bananas and six dried apricots (high also in iron) every day regardless of my status. I also take one docusate sodium tablet and Metamucil twice a day, and senna once a day. In addition, I gradually increased my water intake from two quarts to my current four quarts. My body now thirsts if I have less than three quarts. To fight the anemia, I also take iron tablets twice a day as well as a lot of pumpkin seeds (check the bulk section of the grocery store). The fruit generally keeps the hemorrhoids at a minimum and the iron supplements generally maintain my red blood cells even when I have extremely bad hemorrhoids. When the above measures just don't get rid of the hemorrhoids, I go on a restricted diet, limited pretty much to oatmeal, beans and fruit/vegetables. I put lots of craisins or raisins in the oatmeal, and eat navy or pinto beans, which are both really high in iron. This limited diet takes one to two weeks to take effect.

I wonder I any off you take laxatives and stool softeners for the constipation which causes hemorrhoids.

I have been suffering from painful stools and rumbling stomach for some years now, and I have been to the hospital so many times but they said I was suffering from typhoid. My hemorrhoids have been disturbing me and it causes lack of sexual desire.

I'm writing for my 23 year old daughter. She has very light bleeding, like the size of a dime maybe, every so often. She went to the doctor and was told it could be hemorrhoids, could be this, could be that. She can't get to a specialist for at least a month and she is so afraid it's something bad. She doesn't have any pain just the light bleeding.

I suffered from hemorrhoids for 25 years, and learned lots of treatments and tricks and the proper products the hard way, after much trial and error. But now I'm down to only one flare up a year, instead of every other month, which was wretched. I hope you feel better soon!

My wife has had hemorrhoids since she gave birth 22 years ago. They usually go back to where they came from, but this time they seem to be a little bigger and more painful.

I have MS (multiple sclerosis), and 'luckily' my only problematic symptom is pain, for which I am prescribed various pain medications that cause constipation, which cause, you guessed it, severe hemorrhoids. I found a 2.5 percent cortisone cream my daughter used, that helped. After a usually rough, bowel movement, swelling is profuse, only to be down significantly by the end of the day, but I cannot get rid of these 'grapes'. I cannot stop the pain medications as they get me through my neuropathic pain filled day. I use Miralax but the constipation is always there, which is the main problem, but these hemorrhoids are abysmal and ruining my sex life, as I do not want to do anything with them there, and they are pulsating.

A safe and easy way to get non-messy relief from external hemorrhoids is to gently clean by dabbing it with wet paper towel or baby wipe. Then get a medium-sized cotton ball, and with some pressure, try to force the vessel back into the anus and let the cotton ball stay at the base of the opening for a short time. This will prevent the vessel from falling back out and getting squeezed by the sphincter, which is the cause of the pain. I do this and it works right away. Next time you have a movement, the cotton ball will flush easily and you won't have to touch it. Repeat the procedure whenever you feel the bulge and pain. This is inexpensive, easy, almost painless, and not embarrassing.

Fit male with healthy diet including plenty of fiber, internal hemorrhoids developed over 10 years to the point where they often bled and had to be pushed back in. Once, they bled through my pants onto my chair at work. 3 weeks ago, banded a big one, it seemed to stimulate more frequent bowel movements, it was sore for almost 2 weeks, and it took 9 days for it to fall off. At 2 weeks got the smallest one banded, which was much more painful as I was still sore from the first one, but I was much less sore than with the first, the band fell off after only a few days, and after only a week I'm not feeling sore at all.

I am 38 YO white male and have SUFFERED from internal hemorrhoids and external anal fishers for about 3 years. They would burn and itch, especially at night. I could not sleep without taking hot bath (even 2-3 time per night near the end) and long trips in car were out of the question. I could not work comfortably or exercise. I tried everything that is available in the US and a few products from China and from the Middle East. Lidocane (5%) ointment I purchased from amazon helped me a lot. I got the most relief from the product I picked up in Beirut Lebanon. It was called Procto Synalar manufactured by Grunenthal. On the box it labeled as a mixture of Lidocane and Flucinoloni acetonidium, which is probably a steroid. It was miles and away better than the Hydrocortisone suppositories I got in the US. Once the hemorrhoids reach a certain stage there is little else you can do but get the surgery. I finally relented and got the banding surgery. It was $769. Insurance usually covers 50-80%. I prepped for the surgery by making sure I was "cleaned out" by taking Metamucil and making sure I drank a lot of water to ensure soft stool before the bands are in place. I also took Tylenol before and after the procedure. Avoid Ibuprofen since there could be bleeding from the operation. The actual procedure takes about 2 minutes. They insert a metal cylinder to hold the anal cavity open then band the hemorrhoid. I had three. They won't do more than 2 at once because of the discomfort so I had to return 3 weeks later to do the last one. There is a lot of discomfort and moderate pain for the first day. BUT THE BURNING AND ITCHING WAS GONE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. It feels like you have to go to the bathroom really badly. Try and resist this feeling as much as you can. Take a warm bath as soon as you get home as this helps relax the anal muscles. Try and find something to do to keep your mind off the pain for the first few hours. I played my guitar. The pain gets much less by the second day and by day four I felt fairly normal. Bowel movements can be a little tough so make sure to keep drinking water and taking stool softeners. It was worth all the discomfort to be free of these horrible things. And the discomfort was not as bad as the pain from the hemorrhoids themselves.

I have read in an article that the warm water soaking treatment is best for thrombosed external hemorrhoids, this is because it can lessen the pain and the itchy feeling it brings to the person.

I've had hemorrhoids for a few year snow. Since natural home remedies haven't really helped me in the long run (the itching got less but the hemorrhoids didn't shrink), my doctor now recommended a new type of surgery called Transanal Hemorrhoidal Dearterialization (THD). It's an outpatient surgery where the blood supplying arteries of the hemorrhoid are ligated. He said I should be able to get back to work within a day or 2 and that it has less complications and less post-operative pain than other types of surgery, so I think I'll give it a go and will let you know!

I'm a fit 55-year-old male in excellent health. Last year I began feeling a regular soreness (kind of a pinched feeling) in my anal area, which I presumed to be a hemorrhoid resulting from one or more strained bowel movements. No visible sign of anything. No blood. No pain. Months later I changed specialists, and the second doctor confirmed I had one sizable hemorrhoid. He suggested a rubber-band ligation, and I went for it on the spot. It's a fast procedure -- about $240 out of pocket (after insurance) for the office visit and procedure. Two weeks of elevated soreness, but then BACK TO NORMAL. (Well, let's put it this way, I still occasionally feel a little "off" down there, but nothing like the consistent discomfort prior to the ligation.) I strongly recommend this procedure, if your doctor concurs of course. Don't waste a lot of time, as I did, with topical treatments. There is nothing wrong with trying them, but, if your doctor gives you the option of the ligation, give it serious consideration.

I'm 58 female and have had this condition off and on since 19 with childbirth. I have always able to keep them at bay until they decided to take control. I had internal and external and went to the doctor to be told he couldn't help me - how about surgery and how's tomorrow looking? They were so swollen that I had no choice. I found no pain with the surgery; however, the pain is later when trying to get back to normal. The doctor will tell you to return to normal activities after 2 weeks. It will take 6 weeks. Mineral oil, stool softeners, fiber, drinking lots of water, and take lots of hot Epsom salt baths. All of this will make you feel completely better. I had to have a second surgery due to muscle tightness causing tears. Again, they say 1 week; I say 2 weeks. This time was much easier. Maybe the 3rd week I'll shake the doctor's hand and say, "Thank you! Have I paid for you home yet?" Good luck to all! And I hope this helps!

I am a 65 year old female, and have had rectal hemorrhoids for 40 years resulting from two childbirth deliveries. I use Preparation H daily and take a warm/hot bath daily. The only time they get engorged is when we are on the road traveling in our RV. For those times I take a large pan along to improvise a sitz bath! I was hoping to have the hemorrhoids removed, but learned from my doctor that surgery is no longer the treatment of choice.

I am a 53 year old male and have had both internal/external hemorrhoids for over 20 years. Had externals ones, clots removed. I've used lidocaine and witch hazel, which seems to help a bit. I had stage 4 internal prolapse that required a hemorrhoidectomy. It was extremely painful, but it worked. Unfortunately the surgeon removed the internal ones from the right side, but not the left. Now I have them again. I want to try laser treatment… I've tried virtually everything.

I'm 53 and have suffered off and on with hemorrhoids since junior high. From time to time I have to go to the doctor for treatment. At home, most of the products don't seem to bring much relief anymore. My daughter told me about using Vicks VapoRub and it really helped the pain. I have a blood clot though, and it is really being stubborn this time so maybe after Thanksgiving I will let the doctor remove it. In the meantime the sitz baths, donut seat, fiber laden cereal and stool softeners help. But I find that it is hard to get things straight with numerous bowel movements. Right now I'm trying crushed Tylenol Extra strength that I made into a paste and applied with a cotton swab to the problem. It seems to be helping.

I have had hemorrhoids for many years on and off. I work in construction and do heavy lifting and not a great diet. I have tried many products, but a friend gave me a product I had never heard of. It was called Hemmorx. This product stopped my pain and itching fast. I took about four pills the first day and the burning and itching stopped.

This may a sound a little odd, but I found after having my daughter, the only thing that helped my hemorrhoids were small slices of white potato placed on either side. I swear it works.

I had an internal surgery more than a month ago, and I still have hemorrhoids. The doctor (surgeon) said that the surgery has an 80 to 90% chance that they won't come back. Well, they're still swollen up after each bowel movement. They're about the same size of the ones that he removed. I am frustrated.

I have a huge hemorrhoid as big as two fingers that a doctor treated with silver nitrate to stop the bleeding because it was easily soaking a pad. Now he has referred me to a surgeon. This came on suddenly -- last weekend -- with no warning. Preparation H seems to do no good.

For my hemorrhoids zinc oxide ointment of 20% helped more than the hemorrhoid cream but I would clean the area with witch hazel and alternate between the cream and the zinc oxide. Mine were really bad and I was worried, but it took about 7-10 days and I was much better. Thanks to this web site.

My job involves standing for hours, and not much walking between patients. If this is your type of problem, too, try walking, jogging, or pelvic- related exercises like yoga, sit-ups, pelvic lifts, and pushups.

Zinc oxide always gets rid of mine very quickly.

Back in 1993 when I was living in NYC for Internal Hemorrhoids, banding (rubber banding ligation worked fine); however, my 2nd experience with "roids" 2010-11, I had also developed External hemorrhoids in addition to internal "roids", so I will be visiting my specialist to see what he can tell about the "infernal" external hemorrhoids. Banding was performed in Nov. 2010 on the internal hemorroids discovered on a colonoscopy but I became constipated and had to strain to promote bowel movements. Diet and fiber consumption are both very important. My next appointmt is on May 2, 2011 and I will keep you roid suffers posted on what the Dr. tells me. Unfortunately, there is no Proctologist specialty where I now reside, so I have tried to keep myself current on the latest treatmt for roids.

I suffered from severe Hemorrhoids from about the age of 18 until I was 29 or 30 years old. It got so bad that when I went to the bathroom, the toilet bowl was dark red from the blood. Finally I had enough and spoke to my doctor who said that I had an anal fissure. It is not the same as a hemorrhoid, but I'm betting I got mine from enduring years of hemorrhoids. My doctor recommended a kind of surgery called a "sphincterotomy." If you're bleeding a lot like I was, then talk to your doctor and find out if you have an anal fissure and go and get this quick and easy surgery. Since then I have never had a single hemorrhoid or problem down there.
